A Royal Oak Offshore built around its colour: the pale, faintly green-tinged blue that collectors have taken to calling Tiffany blue, though Audemars Piguet lists it simply as light blue and the dial carries no Tiffany signature. The shade suits the Offshore better than it sounds on paper. Set against 18-carat pink gold, it cools the warmth of the case where a silver dial would wash out and a dark one would turn heavy. The pattern is the "Lady Tapisserie," the Royal Oak's guilloché grid cut at a finer scale for the 37-millimetre dial, and its small raised squares catch light unevenly, so the blue moves from turquoise in direct sun to a softer powder tone in shade. Audemars Piguet kept the counters tonal rather than contrasting, light blue on light blue, with the applied pink gold indices, luminescent Royal Oak hands and the date at 4:30 supplying all the definition. Around it, 32 brilliant-cut diamonds of approximately 1.02 carats follow the octagonal bezel between its eight hexagonal screws. Beneath, calibre 2385 makes the size possible. It descends from Frédéric Piguet's 1185, the column-wheel, vertical-clutch automatic chronograph that was the thinnest of its kind at launch and the movement chosen for the first Royal Oak chronograph in 1998. At 5.5 millimetres, it lets the integrated chronograph live in a case 12.4 millimetres tall, with screw-down crown and 50 metres of water resistance intact. Reference 26231OR joined the collection in 2023. On cream rubber, the blue does most of the talking. Like new, with its 2024 warranty card.
