A Nautilus where the complication is the setting. The 7118/1453G carries 2,376 stones, 1,500 brilliant cut diamonds and 876 emeralds laid over white gold by the snow set technique, each stone a slightly different diameter, placed freehand until almost no metal shows through. Emerald is the unforgiving choice for work at this scale, softer than sapphire and nearly always carrying its jardin of internal fissures, so setting hundreds of them is a quiet gamble against fracture repeated eight hundred and seventy six times; here they ring the bezel in 367 stones, run down the central links of the bracelet in 497 more, and fill the twelve ogival hour markers above a dial of 283 diamonds cut through with the wave pattern of the ladies' Nautilus. The geometry beneath is untouched, the rounded octagon and integrated bracelet unmistakably Genta's, at 35.2 millimetres and closed by the patented fold over clasp with its four independent catches. Behind a sapphire back runs the calibre 26-330 S with sweep seconds, a 21k gold central rotor and a Gyromax balance, serious watchmaking sitting quietly beneath serious stonework. In stock, unworn, complete.
